In South-Asian region, Auto-rickshaw (electric/engine driven) is a well-known vehicle.  Mostly in India and Bangladesh, people prefer auto-rickshaw for traveling small to medium distances. However, no reliable study has been found where micro-hybrid technology with solar panels on top of the vehicle has been implemented in auto-rickshaw. This paper is focused on basically a research on using solar energy in engine driven auto-rickshaw along with a micro-hybrid technology. The key output obtained by using our proposed system is energy saving from national grid. About 23% energy can be saved if this vehicle is substituted with the conventional ones. Feasibility analysis shows, installation of this system to a conventional one would be pay backed within 2-2.5 years whereas a typical engine driven auto-rickshaw can serve about 18 years at strict conditions. So implementing this system will be profitable for energy sectors along with environment. This type of vehicle will emit about 35% less exhaust gas than the conventional one. A recharging infrastructure is proposed in this paper so that the vehicle can run on 100% green energy. So, proposing this module will also make positive effect to greenery and this research would help researchers for further development of the system.
